Wade Matterson

Matterson leads Milliman’s Australian practice and is responsible for the development
of its advisory, administration and overlay management services.
Over the last 15 years, Matterson has been based throughout Asia, Europe and North
America, advising institutions on product development, risk management and retirement
savings issues.
Most recently, Matterson has been involved in the development and implementation of
products and strategies designed to manage the exposure of individuals to investment
and longevity risk, including AXA North and ING MoneyForLife, as well as tail-hedging strategies
for institutional investors and retail protection platforms.
Matterson has also assisted funds with the development and synthesis of sophisticated member
analytics and is responsible for the management of Milliman’s research and policy initiatives,
which includes the company’s report on global retirement income systems that formed part of
IFSA’s submission to the Henry Review.
Matterson is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and is a member of its Risk Management
Practice Committee. He also holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance, and regularly contributes
industry articles and conference presentations.
